'Agreste' in French has the meaning of 'countryside'. The illustration on the sauce boat looks like just beautiful flowers from french cottage garden, but in fact, it contains the sad history of France that it was occupied by Germany between 1940-44 during World War II. Blue, white, and red flowers on the sauce boat symbolize the French flag. It's a secret expression waiting for the liberation of France.

Sarreguemines was a ceramic factory in northern France. It became famous thanks to Napoleon the 1st in the 18th century. In 1871, during the German occupation of northern France, Sarreguemines decided to create a new factory in Digoin, Burgundy, which was unoccupied. This is how Digoin-Sarreguemines was created. The company invested in innovations for new tech & designs, and quickly regained its reputation.Until the mid-20th century, it enjoyed great popularity.
